UPMC IT Summer Associate Program – Applications due Thursday, November 1st

UPMC is looking for students to participate in their Information Services Division (ISD) Summer Associate Program. This is an eleven-week paid internship. This program is a great way for students to kick-start their career and begin to prepare for full-time opportunities with UPMC post-graduation.

Summer associates will have the opportunity to:

In this position, employees rotate through at least 4 different IT service areas over a 2-year period. Employees are exposed to multiple tools and technologies, receive education and development opportunities designed specifically for them, and have opportunities to work on special projects that help develop the skills needed to be successful.

Associate IT Audit Analyst Opening for Highmark Health

Highmark Health, a locally-based nonprofit corporation, is currently searching for an Associate IT Audit Analyst. Highmark Health employs over 38,000 people and provides health care delivery and financing for over 35 million people in the United States.

The ideal candidate is responsible for:

  • planning, conducting, and coordinating operational and compliance audits across the Highmark Enterprise
  • participating in systems development activities regarding implementation of new systems or modifications to purchased software.
  • establishing and cultivating relationships within assigned work areas.
  • performing assessments in accordance with the Internal Audit Charter and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

The candidate must have at least a high school diploma or a GED, while a Bachelor’s Degree (in a CIS related field) is preferred. Experience in Information Systems Auditing is a plus.

UPMC Recruiting M Programmers at Spring Career Fair

UPMC will be attending RMU’s Spring Career Fair on April 7, 2015.  They are specifically interested in MUMPS programmers.  MUMPS (Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System), alternatively called M, is a general-purpose programming language for transaction processing that was originally designed for the healthcare industry and continues to be used in many large hospitals today.

At RMU, M programming is taught in the following courses:

  • INFS2140 M Programming
  • INFS3141 Advanced M & Cache

If you have experience in M or have taken the courses above, you should make a point to attend the Spring Career Fair in April!
