Sign your team up for the AWS DeepRacer Competition by February 10th

Just a reminder that teams will be accepted for RMU’s first AWS DeepRacer Competition until February 10th. You don’t need any experience in machine learning or with AWS to participate in the competition! Once your team signs up, you’ll be invited to an Amazon workshop where you will learn exactly what to do to prepare for Race Day!

Check out this video to learn more about AWS DeepRacer:

And check out what a real-life DeepRacer competition looks like! This is from a previous year’s AWS Championship Cup:

We’re excited to bring this technology to our own competition at RMU!

Sign up for the AWS DeepRacer Competition

If you are an undergraduate or 4+1 student in the CIS department, consider signing up for our AWS DeepRacer Competition!

Student teams (2-3 people each) will train mini autonomous vehicles (AWS DeepRacers) using machine learning and then test out their trained models on Race Day on April 5th to compete against other student teams with the cars racing on a physical track.  The DeepRacers are equipped with cameras and sensors, and teams will be able to use the sensors to detect and avoid obstacles placed on the track while racing to turn in the best lap time. All teams will be invited to a training session by Amazon to learn how to create and train the models.

The winning team will receive scholarship money ($1,000/team member) to be applied to their RMU accounts.  Additional prizes will also be available. The deadline for teams to sign up is February 10th. See below for details.
