Data Warehouse Consultants LLC (DWC) is a consulting firm based in Pittsburgh, PA focusing on business intelligence and data warehouse projects. They provide services in strategy, design, architecture, development and implementation of data warehouse and other business intelligence solutions.
DWC is looking to fill a position as a Microsoft.NET Development Summer Intern. This is a great opportunity for a student studying IT or Information Systems. The intern will receive on the job training in programming and databases The intern must be able to work Monday through Friday for approximately 35-40 hours per week. Only candidates local to the Greater Pittsburgh area will be considered.
The successful candidate will:
– Have project experience with Microsoft.NET technology
– Work directly with the DWC consultants to execute Microsoft.NET projects and tasks
– Maintain Microsoft.NET forms and create reports
– Conduct maintenance activities on common Microsoft.NET modules
– Troubleshoot system errors or problems with implementations
– Possess excellent communication skills
– Collaborate with DWC designers in order to design databases, programs, and processes based on the client requirements

IBM is producing a set of videos that are quick conversations with a new generation of coders and creators on the mainframe. Watch RMU alumna Torrie McLaughlin, who works on the mainframe at a large financial institution, describe how COBOL is a key asset to her professional toolkit.
On April 24, 2017, RMU held a Research & Grants Expo highlighting a variety of faculty research and grant projects. All of the RMU campus was invited to attend this event. Dr. Karen Paullet presented the Mobile Forensics and Security Project, an NSF-funded grant. Dr. Paullet is the PI on the grant, along with Dr. Jamie Pinchot (Co-PI), Dr. Sushma Mishra (Co-PI), and Dr. Fred Kohun. Mobile security and forensics is an underrepresented area of study that is increasingly important in our current society. This research will advance knowledge in the field of mobile cybersecurity and mobile forensics through a train-the-trainer program for 50 faculty members from universities across the United States. Twenty-five faculty were trained in July 2016 and the remaining half will be trained this year. Dr. Paullet also highlighted a new online certificate offered by RMU in Mobile Forensics and Security (MFS). Dr. Peter Wu was featured in RMU’s Achieve magazine this month for his research into the design and creation of computing tools. Dr. Wu has been working on a National Science Foundation (NSF) project to create new learning tools, case studies, videos, and class exercises that will be used at 33 universities. This project is making an impact by building a community of people with skills in software verification and validation. Congratulations, Dr. Wu!
