HM Health Solutions is holding an event called Project: Future event on Friday, March 18, 2016 in Downtown Pittsburgh from 9 am to 3 pm. Developed specifically for seniors seeking to jump-start their career upon graduation, Project: Future will showcase HM Health Solutions to give attendees a look into what we have to offer, our career opportunities, educational sessions presented by experts on key topics in the technical industry and the opportunity to network with our employees.

AMC Graduate Assistant Position Available

The RMU radio and Academic Media Center are looking for a graduate assistant to help support the media outreach for RMU radio and RMU TV.  They are looking for graduate students coming from any major background, but preferably people with some IT background and experience.  The position comes with a stipend of $500 a month and a tuition waiver.

They are looking for someone with strong leadership skills and management skills working with administrators, staff and undergraduates in the Academic Media Center and RMU Radio.  There needs to be a willingness to learn the technical side of radio operations from the control room to some IT experience.

University of Pittsburgh seeking Data Analyst/Programmer

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking applicants for a Data Analyst/Programmer position.

Job Summary
The Data Analyst/Programmer will work in the Office of Provost to improve existing data management systems and provide business intelligence support to the office. Duties include designing new database management systems to automatize the production of existing reports, developing and implementing programs to process and manipulate large datasets, writing queries for extracting data, preparing static reports with both tabular and graphical presentations as well as web-based active reports, and providing data programming and analytic support on a range of research projects. In developing new systems, the candidate will be responsible for the needs assessment, analysis, design, testing, and documentation. Candidate must have experience working within a team environment, be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines. The incumbent must be proficient in report generation software (e.g., Crystal Reports), query writing (e.g., SQL, Cognos), web crawling, relational databases (e.g., Access), visualization software (e.g., Tableau), and web publishing. Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, SPSS), program management software, sharepoint, and data analytics a plus.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Business Information Systems, or related field. Two to three years of experience in database management, business intelligence, or information technology, or some combination of related experience and graduate education required.

The Department of Homeland Security, CyberSkills Management Support Initiative

Job Description:

  • The DHS Secretary’s Honors Program Cyber Student Volunteer Initiative is specifically designed to provide current undergraduate and graduate students with cybersecurity-focused volunteer assignments intended to expose them to the field of cybersecurity and provide excellent work experience. Selected students will support the cybersecurity mission at one of the following DHS components: Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD), the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), or the United States Coast Guard (U.S. Coast Guard).

Qualifications:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  •  Be currently enrolled at least half time in pursuit of an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree at an accredited college or university with 1) a major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM); 2) a major in cybersecurity-related studies; and/or 3) an interest in working in the field cybersecurity upon graduation.
  • Have projected graduation date of September 2016 or later. (Note students scheduled to graduate prior to September 2016 are not eligible for this program—unless they are graduating with an Associate’s degree and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, or they are graduating with Bachelor’s degree and pursuing a Master’s degree).
  •  Possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale that can be verified via a Fall 2015 transcript that includes all courses taken to date.

Paid Cyber Security Summer Fellowship at CMU

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is hosting a summer fellowship aimed at cyber security students who will be seniors in the Fall of 2016. The IT Lab: Summer Security Initiative (SSI) is a roughly six week program that will be taking place from June 19, 2016- July 30, 2016.

SSI is an opportunity for participants to engage in a unique environment that will prepare them for careers post-school. Interaction with some of the world’s most foremost information security experts will be a daily occurrence and a majority of them will be teaching the program’s daily classes. If all of this wasn’t enough to convince future seniors to apply, keep in mind that students who complete the SSI program will be eligible to receive a scholarship of at least 50% of tuition to CMU’s Heinz College to pursue a master’s degree.
